It's been a minute...

I've been so busy lately with keeping McKenna busy, my Etsy shop and yard work lately that I haven't been doing much on my blog (obviously). Which means I haven't been working on many projects for my own home =( Sad, I know. We have made some pretty crazy progress in the back yard though so that's a bonus! Waiting for the last patch of grass seed to sprout up all green and pretty and then I will get some pictures posted. As far as the kitchen, well, there was a new development just this evening...let's just say we have an insurance adjuster coming tomorrow to take a look at the "situation". I can't focus on that right now...ugh! Let's just talk about pretty stuff...la, la, la...

So, tonight I was working on a few custom orders for my Etsy shop and Brian comes into my office (also much different...lots more storage and more work space...more on that later) to let me know of this "situation" in the kitchen which involves a leak, sub floors and wall damage. I saw it, turned around walked back into my office and decided I needed to make something pretty. Seriously...I was sad. Just when we finally get to the point where the kitchen was getting close to being done...sigh...it could be worse, right? Anywhooo...here is what I did to get myself to a happy, crafty, pretty spot.

A few months back I was the lucky winner of those fab skeleton keys from Pottery Barn that sweet Jen gave away when she was purging her living room! Lucky Me! I think I peed my pants when I got the email saying I won! So, fast foward to this evening...I finally decided I needed to do something with them and I for sure needed something pretty to give me some hope that my kitchen will be pretty soon! {yep, I'm dramatic}

Look at all those pretty keys I won!!! I honestly can't believe it has taken me this long to do something creative with them! So, I found this frame at a garage sale for .50. It's a making memories shadow box frame that was meant for framing wedding keepsakes/scrapbooking stuff. Perfect depth for what I had in mind for a few of these keys. I took out all the litte pretties that were inside the frame to have a clean slate...

Found some cool paper from my stash {via Melinda's stash} , grabbed my glue gun and my keys and started putting this cute little project together...

Look how cute the other side of that paper is! Vintage little scooters! I can't believe I didn't use that side. I think it would have been just a little too busy. I just traced the size of the frame backing...cut it down to size...

Grabbed my trusty, super hot, mini glue gun, dabbed some glue on the back side of the keys to hold them in place, put the frame back together...

and Wha La! A cute little project that I LOVE! Thanks again Jen you rock! If you haven't checked out Jen's blog iheartorganzing go now!!

Ahhh, that felt good...

Tomorrow I'll think about the kitchen situation. =) Goodnight!
